Our training contracts

We seek to attract, nurture and reward the best trainee solicitors, trainees are an investment for the future and we endeavour to retain them all on qualification. Whether you're studying for a law degree or your degree is in an unrelated area, a prosperous, fulfilling legal career could be achievable. Because above all else we value individuality, innovation, focus and the ability to think creatively. We welcome applications for our work experience placements and training contracts from all kinds of undergraduates and graduates. Regardless of your subject area, your background or your age, if we spot a raw talent, we'll nurture and reward it. Our two year training contract is second to none, offering you a range of seats with practical experience and insight so that you pursue the career you really want.

Trainees spend the first year of their training contract undertaking three seats of four months in duration gaining practical experience in diverse and innovative areas of law. Having experienced three very different areas of law, trainees are then likely to know where they wish to qualify so during the the second year trainees undertake a twelve month seat, in the area which they and the firm wish them to qualify into.

From 2009 our training contracts will be streamed so that as a trainee you are either undertaking a training contract based within our Personal Injury practice area, (where you can gain experience in Personal Injury, Clinical Negligence, Court of Protection and Personal Injury Defence) or you will undertake a training contract based within our Business and Private Client practice area (where dependant on office location you could gain experience in departments such as Insolvency, Commercial Litigation, Corporate, Public Law and Family). If you choose to apply for a Training Contract we will obtain your stream and office preferences if you are invited to an Assessment Centre and Interview with us.

Trainee training and development

Our training contracts commence with a well grounded and thorough induction programme this is then followed by regular training events and the Professional Skills Course, delivered in house. You’ll be invited to attend lectures, seminars and workshops, many of which are delivered by our own partners who regularly speak at national conferences.
